Lishi 2-in-1 Tool Compatibility Guide: How to Find the Right Tool for Your Vehicle

Short version: Lishi compatibility is decided by six fields — vehicle, year, keyway code, lock position, cut count and tool version. Get those six right and the order is safe. Guess any one of them and you will buy the wrong tool.

1. The six fields

Field Why it matters Where to find it
Vehicle make and model Narrows the keyway family Badge, VIN, registration
Model year / generation Keyways change inside one model line VIN, door sticker
Keyway code The actual tool identifier Stamped on the key or lock
Lock position Door and ignition can differ The lock you need to open
Cut count 8-cut and 10-cut are different tools Count positions on the blade
Tool version v.2 / v.3 changes the wafer stack Product title

2. Start with the keyway, not the car

The keyway code is the only field that maps directly to a tool. A Ford Focus can be HU101, FO38 or HU198/FORD2017 depending on year; the badge alone tells you nothing.

If you cannot read the code, use the year and lock position to narrow it, then confirm against the product title.

3. Where the six fields go wrong

Year. The 2018+ Focus is the classic example: HU198/FORD2017, not HU101.

Position. On GM, door locks and ignition locks often use different codes — B111 for Buick doors, HU100 for ignition.

Cut count. HU162T exists in 8, 9 and 10-cut versions. Same name, different locks.

4. When you are not sure

Do not order on a guess. Send the vehicle, year, lock position and a photo of the key or lock; we check the catalogue before you pay.

The FAQ covers the questions we get most often, and the contact form reaches a person, not a bot.

5. FAQ

Can I match a tool by car brand alone?

No. Brand narrows the range; the keyway code decides.

What if the key is worn?

The stamp may be unreadable. Use the year and lock position, then confirm the cut count.

Do aftermarket keys change the answer?

No. The lock's keyway is what matters, not the key's origin.
